Merging Souls And The Attraction / Repulsion To Deep Psychological Work: Scorpio, Pluto and Saturn Transit the 8th House

psychologyFact is both the soldier and I have done copious amounts of psychological work. It was interesting to me when I first started writing about him another astrologer wrote to tell me what he should do to heal from his career. He basically thought a deep examination would be required and I wrote back to ask, “What makes you think he’s not done this?”

He has done this. He’s done it via his church. The soldier a devout Catholic who feels he may have committed a mortal sin. I vehemently disagree and he admits he may not committed a mortal sin, he may not have done anything wrong but you know these Catholics. Just in case!

So he went through a process with his church that took him years. Most people don’t this, you know? They do not put themselves through a rigorous self examination but he has and so have I.

I saw a psychologist weekly, for three years and I didn’t mess around. I got myself a PhD for starters and I ripped the lid of everything I could find at a pace and to a level that alarmed her. But I came out the other side obviously and now it’s almost 15 years later and I can say that by far that was the best money I have ever spent in my life.

saturnSo the soldier and I come together with these backgrounds. We have both been to the end of the continuum as far as experiences you can have go and we have both worked very hard after the fact to have a perspective on our lives. And we’re pretty together all in all. We’re pretty comfortable with ourselves and our lives but now look what happens.

He comes along and I come along and both of us have the ways and means to access each other at a deeper level than anyone else could manage. Part of the reason is because we are both so keen. Part of the reason is because we knew each other when we were kids before all the layers of junk got laid on. Part of the reason is probably unknowable but maybe you see the point I am making.

I have Saturn transiting my 8th house. Looks like I’ve got some more psychological (8th house) work (Saturn) to do. And it must be profound because look who was sent to bat clean-up!

And this brings classic Plutonian feelings. While I am repelled at the idea someone can get at me in a way I can’t manage alone, I am simultaneously wildly attracted at the possibility of discovering things I have not discovered before and integrating them so here we go. But this is supposed to be about merging souls so I will come back with that angle.

Meanwhile, are you interested in deep psychological analysis, or not so much? Do you have planets in the 8th?

Hell, yeah. Before I studied astrology I thought my need to get into my dirty pit of psychological analysis came from my Mom’s legacy of research and psychological probing.
I was 10 when she began her therapy. She had no real boundary system. I got to hear and see everything. It wasn’t very child-friendly, let’s say that. But I was really stimulated by it, I can see now.

With astrology I can now see that it is related to my 1st House Moon, square Pluto in 9th, and I do have Saturn in my 8th House natally (or, 7th depending on systems) trine Neptune in 12th.

I can totally relate to being as you say ‘repelled at the idea someone can get at me in a way I can’t manage alone.’
My Moon’s in Capricorn, and I often feel with it being in the 1st House I want to figure things out for myself…I am in no way as helpless at people sometimes take me for.

What a gift that the Soldier and you get to probe that side of each other! I hope today is a good day for you and your kids.

Yes, I love that kind of thing! See I thought mine had a lot to do with family as well - my parents both in medical professions and they had a no censorship policy on my reading lists so I spent my childhood reading all their psych books. Love a great case study!

Don’t know enough about astro ’systems’ but some of the things I’ve been looking at show me w/an empty 8th house?? It was one of the things I was curious about studying as some say because you are Scorpio you are all about the 8th house and here I’m a Scorpio w/all kinds of 1st house action, which leaves me needing to study more.

I’m very interested in deep psychological analysis - 8th House Sag Sun. “know thyself”.
Studying astrology gave me a language in which to describe the many states of being, like no other system could. In my 20’s I painted my planet positions -for my 8th Sag sun - I painted myself as a seahorse swimming the depths for example.

I studied it and I tried it. Probably traditional psychology isn’t for me, it was disappointing.
I have Uranus there.

This is what my whole life has been about. Mars/Mercury/ASC in Scorpio, Pluto/Saturn sextile Moon & square Mars?! But nothing in the 8th House.

I have been fascinated by human behaviors since I was a child. Had enough Psychology/Sociology classes for a Minor in each and have been studying astrology every since I found books about it! Have a major thing about being honest as possible with myself and always have. No lying to the person in the mirror allowed!! :-D

I’ve been interested in human behavior since i can remember. I guess it comes from growing up in a familly totally different from me. I felt like an alien and needed to udnerstand things. So psychology was useful, and then came astrology, and then psychological astrology =) fun.

Yes I´m real interested in deep psychological analysis but personally prefer psychic and spiritual tools, find them more in alignment with how I´m wired. Not surprised to hear at all the comment from joana. Mars and Jupiter in the 8th.
