Challenge For Writers (And Other Creative People) With Saturn in Virgo

Astrology in Real Life…

virgo cardWith Saturn in Leo hopefully you defined (Saturn) your creative self (Leo) and Saturn’s transit through Virgo will force edits. I am already noticing this big time.

For example I have gotten several emails advising me on the new videos, do this, don’t do that. Today’s comment on the story, “The Soldier and the Lesbian,” forced me to define (and defend) my writing. How Saturn in Virgo is that?

I also had some gal write me with scathing criticism about the blog in general. And while the beating was completely unnecessary and unwarranted, the point she made was utterly valid and I am going to act because of it.

So this is the job and my early impressions are this: People are going to tell you (or try to tell you) what to do at work. Some of them you should no doubt listen to. In other cases conforming would be a big mistake which leaves you to learn (Saturn) to discern (Virgo) who is who and which is which.

But if you do this successfully (and I think eventually most of us will) you are going to wind up with more command of your creative product… of your VOCATION than you could muster or manage any other way.

Anyone else notice themselves being nudged towards editing their creative output?

Yup! Just finished my SR (well, of course the effects last forever) in Leo and the day after Saturn entered Virgo, I entered art school! Whooo! I’m getting all the editing I could possibly want and will probably be begging for Saturn in Libra.
Wait, did I just say that?!

Haven’t run into it yet but it’s sure to turn up probably when Saturn gets closer to my MC. :(

Guess we’ll have to practice responding rather than reacting, huh . . .

No - but I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the audacity of anyone giving scathing criticism. Gentle and neutral feedback possibly, if they know you well enough. Otherwise, your work is being gifted to those who care to partake. No one is being charged, and we have free will to decide if a blog is of interest to us or not. Well, that’s my two cents worth!

Melody, I agree with you. And I draw this all the time and it has bothered me greatly in the past but it bothers me less and less all the time and today I had an epiphany!

ALLLLLLLL my experience is extreme so why would this be any different? ::smiles::

And once I thought that I felt really good about the whole thing. You know. Like I am normal me, having my normal experience which is normally abnormal.

Also, the gal obviously needed someone to abuse, so may as well be me (a hologram) than one of her kids or something. And we already know it’s for nothing, right? Because of the happiness set point, LOL. Let’s face it. Mine is pretty damn high!

Last, I think this stuff comes back. I mean if someone pounds you when you don’t deserve it eventually it gets them in the night. So all in all, no harm no foul. Because I’m not kidding her, criticism was sound and sometimes you don’t know what’s wrong until someone tells you.

Well Elsa, I can resonate with your Virgo energy that is always open to improvement regardless of the source…but still…I have a fairly high happiness set point as well :)

as a writer, with saturn in virgo square my gemini sun — i’ve always been my best editor (sometimes too good, don’t want to let go of anything). what’s happening now with saturn return to its home sign in my chart? for one, i’ve been working for a friend PROOFREADING and for another, am up for a job doing event PLANNING. *lol* both of these gigs came hurdling my way — tried to palm off the proofreading on 2 other people and both times it fell thru and came back to me.

and in terms of the unasked for critique that came your way — *uh* the last time i checked, this blog was called elsaelsa, not readerreader. unless you have some terrible error in your astrology (unlikely) or give harmful advice (you most certainly do not — acerbic at times, but life affirming and positive.) say what you want, how you want — it’s your planet, we’re just interested orbit-oids!

Many of my writing buddies from 5-6 years ago have suddenly reappeared with more than a little interest in collaborating with me again. It’s wonderful!!

It’s definitely coming up in my world, I’m back at work teaching after being home with my kids for 9 years and I have my co-teachers telling me not to care about some of my kids. Excuse me!!!! Their scores don’t count so it doesn’t matter if I teach them anything. I’m teaching writing and I’ll be damned if there’s a kid in my class that doesn’t come out a better writer with a bigger voice than when he/she came into it…even if I have to go underground to do it! On the flip side, my own writing is getting tweaked because of the lessons I’m teaching them….relearning RULES and STRUCTURE of writing.

Yes. I just started a poetry workshop with a man that will probably try to get me to unlatch my stranglehold on trying to find meaning, but I haven’t written poetry in forever and have no idea how to start. Oy, I guess I’ll have to be re/unlearning the rules and structure of writing. Thanks for talking about this. I wouldn’t have known.
