i just don’t think some corporate entity is going to know how much food you need, and what kind. a nutritionist, sure. but everyone’s different, and one size fits all portion control seems ridiculous.
I’ve had some similar realizations lately to your pint of icecream thought. I’m working alot and I’m the cook in the family. I buy food to prepare and it goes to waste because I don’t have the time or energy to cook it. Convenience foods seem so expensive and just seems like cheating to me, but lately I’ve realized that if I buy things that are easier to make I can put together a decent meal. Last night it was a cooked deli chicken, some sauce, frozen veggies and a box of risotto. It was better than running out at the last minute for fast food even if it wasn’t as good as the food I used to make when I had all day to cook my own chicken broth and chop up a bunch of fresh vegetables.
‘is it savior to hogs like me’ LOL! I guess so! And I love to eat cooked deli chicken…not really into ripping out someone’s gizzard (unless they really piss me off)
We may have to do this for ourselves too. i make cookies about once a year because if they are there, I’ll eat them.
Lupa, those pre-cooked deli chickens have been a life-saver for me too. One of the reasons I’m looking forward to leaving my day job, is so I can go back to cooking at home. It usually saves money & it’s the quality control issue. As I’ve said before i want to know the history of what’s going into my family’s bodies!
I do the exact same thing with ice cream! It is worth the extra $1.50 or so I end up spending to NOT have three times as much!
The only concern is, the ice cream that is sold in pints is usually deluxe and the highest calorie/fat content of all.
Well Pisces has convinced me that every once in awhile you have to dive into a vat of ice cream and that is just all there is to it.
Even vegan, Henry did it. Every once in awhile, a glass of wine.
