How Saturn in Virgo (Healthy Eating) Dovetails With Pluto In Capricorn (The Shadow Side of the Father / Parenting)

Ask the collective

salad kitsI was thinking about all this pre-packaged food and how it’s not so “Virgo” considering all the packaging. But it is Virgo when it come to efficiency and I’m thinking more and more of us will be looking for healthy (or healthier) fast food. And one of the reasons why dovetails with Pluto going into Capricorn.

With Pluto going into Capricorn, the shadow side of the father will come to light. And like it or don’t there is one and it’s huge, most noticeably in the fact so many fathers are absent. I think over half the kids live with single parents now (generally the mother) but the figure is misleading.

At my son’s age (8) there are some families still in tact, but by the time most kids reach my daughter’s age (12) they have been through (at least one) divorce. So what is the single mother to do?

The Virgo in their 20’s will say eat organic! Cook fresh food. That’s fine if you’ve got the time but what if you’re a mother trying to care for your children while you hold down a job? Good luck!

pre packaged saladSo for these people… mothers who call for pizza or rely on McDonalds for dinner, the availability of a packaged salad it a boon. Pre-washed lettuce, laced with chemicals is not organic lettuce not laced with chemicals but what should she do? Go to the farm? As it is she only sleeps 5 or 6 hours a night and it’s been going on for years…

Meanwhile where is Dad? Some of them pay child support and see their children but many do not. So while Saturn in Virgo pressures everyone to improve their diet, I think the availability of these “better for you” convenience foods is a boon and not just for parents.

With the shift to the earth signs we are all going to be working more than we have in the recent pass and it’s not such a bad idea to have your lunch thought out for you… portioned and ready to go.

What do you think? Can you see an upside to all this pre-packaged portion controlled food?

Um, sorry. Not really. Even the sandwich you showed us, I kept thinking: how hard can it be to take a bun out of the bread box (or whatever) at home and put a piece of turkey on it? What’s all the plastic for?
Most healthy food doesn’t even take that long to cook. But I’m not a total food nazi…I just discovered the joys of pre-washed spinach LOL.
My BF used to use paper plates when things got super-hairy (she’s a single parent). I don’t judge that. But I do think pre-packaged foods are the biggest scam going.

I do! I have saturn in virgo natally, with north node conjunct to it. And I can see all this stuff in my future. The reason is I had a gastric bypass almost 2 years ago, and this is how i’m supposed to eat. controled portions and making sure I get enough protein daily and vitamins, etc. So this could be very helpful. This or a smaller portion version of this for WLS (weight loss surgery) people. I hate throwing food away, and I’ve had to get used to that lately because I eat a small portion of soemthing and get sick of it for a few days and meanwhile it goes bad, so having the food sorted out and portioned would be nice.
Healthy food is really important, maybe people will be more aware of this in the next couple of years.

PS- since having this surgery, I can feel the vital energy in the foods, and have low tolerance for very processed foods, like mcdonalds. it’s dead food. So I hope people will be more aware of this, maybe feel it in their bodies too as they eat. Junk food is criminal. :) thus spoke the voice of saturn in virgo.

I think you got it when connecting it to ppl’s busybee work lives - that’s how it’s Virgoish.

Also - the little compartments. ‘This goes here, that goes there.’

I could’ve sworn however those packaged lettuces have been around for at least a decade.

ziplocs and freezers go a long way….

  6. kashmiri says on 9/10/07 at 5:17 pm:

I’m sure they have been around a long time, Chris, but if you’re broke you just don’t notice them!
$4 for pre-washed spinach, $0.79 for that which I can wash myself…only just recently able to afford it and I still feel guilty (my Virgo’s intercepted).

Some of it, yes - pre-cut vegetables for example. Wouldn’t buy them myself, but can see they’re handy. But most of the pre-packaged stuff, you pay for the plastic, not the food. I could not eat the bread bun, the turkey out of plastic, or the cheese you showed us, and would not give it to my kids. It’s not that difficult to buy good quality things. In terms of convenience, I would say: make simple recipes. I don’t want all these extras in my salad, or 3 toppings on my bread. Just pure and simple will do. Less is more! (And I suppose that’s virgo :-)). That’s what Italy taught me foodwise. Just plain pasta, garlic, parmesan & and a green salad- can’t beat it.

Some pre-packaged stuff is garbage. Others is not so bad. It is always important to read the labels and know what you are buying, and more importantly what you are eating. Meal delivery services are a great way to save time, and they are a lot healthier than all that prepackaged stuff you can buy in the grocery store. Most of the time professional chefs and nutritionists are preparing the food for you.
