“Still texting you?”

“Yeah, sometimes. She’s giving me the heebie jeebies,” he said.

“Why?”

“I don’t know. There was one message I wanted to forward it to you but I don’t know how to do that. I just wondered what you’d make of it.”

“What did it say?”

He told me and I offered my opinion.

“That’s what I was afraid of,” he said. “That’s what it seemed like to me too.”

He went on to explain the predicament it put him in. Turns out this gal is in a position where she could cause him some grief. He even thinks she might be able to act against me.

“You’re kidding?”

“No.”

“Okay so you’re telling me she’s got no problem or even interest in you as long as you’re unhappy. As long as you are bereft and lonely and no one wants you, that’s fine. But if someone does? Well God forbid if that happens, now she’s going to burn you down?”

“Yeah I think she would. Especially if she knows it’s you.”

“Me?”

“An astrologer. And your writing and all.”

“Oh my God. You’ve got to be kidding me. Well don’t worry about me because I will take all comers, I always do. And I am not even remotely afraid of this kind of person, but yeah. I can see where she could mess you up, damn.”

“Uh huh. So I’m going to do my best to avoid something happening but if I can’t?”

“If you can’t then what?”

‘Well if I have to go war, then I go to war. But I would rather not so I’m going to try to avoid this if I can.”

“Well if you can’t avoid it and you do go to war, I’ll go with you and we’ll prevail.”

“Oh hell yes, we’ll prevail,” he said with a chuckle. “You and I can clear a dance floor, P.”

“Okay, well that’s that. Damn. Nothing like finding out your friends aren’t friends. God that sucks. I’m sorry. What a freak that woman is. We used to feel sorry for her.”
