“I’m on the vegetable cookie dough diet,” I said.
‘Yeah?” He laughed.
“Uh huh. I eat some vegetables… lots of them all saut©ed, some parmesan cheese, olive oil all healthy and then I have some cookie dough, cookie dough, cookie dough! Cook-Kee Dough!”
“I’m with ya, P. I wish I was there with you. I’d be eating that cookie dough too. I love that stuff.”
“Yes, it’s grand. But I can’t stop you know. I finally baked the cookies to try to reduce the appeal. Because a cooked cookie is not as good as cold cookie dough.”
“Agree with you, P.”
“Yeah, so I eat a half a slab of dough… a half a pan of cookies and tell myself it’s my health shake.”
He laughed.
“Uh huh. You know how those muscle guys eat shakes with raw eggs in them? Like Charles Atlas? Well that’s what I am doing except I have my raw eggs with some cookie dough. How do you like that?”
“I like it. I want to have some of that cookie dough too.”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m getting away with it so far. I’m looking okay. You know. I’m looking curvy and all but I do think I better stop this so I baked all the cookies and now my dough is ruined.”

Neith - I was eating when I read that. Yeccch! 
I voted for cookies, but I have to say that the man who invented cookie dough ice cream was a genius.
I don’t plan far enough ahead very often to make dough - really! I buy pre-made cookies. Used to like dough quite a bit. Glad it’s not around, I’m sure I’d become a slug.
Alternatives: ‘light’ whipped cream from the can, gourmet ice cream. Reese’s peanut butter topping on ice cream.
I have a Venus-Neptune-Jupiter t-square in fixed signs which requires eating dessert daily.
I’m a baker at heart…I much rather have the cookies…though I’ve been known to lick the spatula when I’m done mixing the dough 
I won’t eat any commercially made cookie dough though…tastes awful to me…I won’t even eat cookie dough ice cream
I love cookie dough - ice cream - store bought - home made. Sometimes we never do get to cookies, we just eat the dough. I know there’s a danger of salmonella, but somohow I’ve survived almost 60 years and never had any bad results from eating cookie dought except for the weight gain if I’m not careful. I’m going to make some now - damn it!!
I made cookies from scratch yesterday just so I could have some dough. That salmonella don’t scare me.
Though, you know, you can buy pasteurized eggs now that are safe. And commercial cookie dough is also safe because they do pasteurize the eggs when they make it. So, there is no longer any reason at all not to eat raw cookie dough, or cake batter, or brownie batter, or egg nog… you get the idea.
When I was younger I could down an entire tube of pillsbury cookie dough in one sitting if I was in an angsty state.
Also, I recommend freezing the dough (it’s even better frozen).
Blech! Where’s my dill pickles and cheese and crackers and olives and cheese and cheese and cheese? Do they make cheese flavoured, salty cookie dough?

I gave up eating raw cookie dough & raw eggs in general when I found out they can contain the salmonella bacteria. And, believe me, that’s one nasty illness!!! Diarrhea, vomiting to the max! But I did love it . . .
