The Persecution Of Astrologers: cf perez Meets An Unattractive Woman Who Works For The Government

Copping To Being An Astrologer - Going Public With Your Beliefs In Spite Of The Perils Involved

I was talking to pal and astrologer, cf perez of ancientsky.com this morning and she relayed a story from ten years ago. Apparently she was reading charts at a party and she had some gal on screen.

“Oh, I said. I see you work the government. No I don’t, she said. But there were several indications this gal worked for the government so I said, oh. So where do you work? Oh, well I live in Sacramento and work for the State Department.”

I laughed.

“Yeah. She wanted to make me wrong. She just wanted me to be wrong so she was going to make a distinction between the state and the federal level. Whatever, so long as I’m wrong. So I took that chart down and just went to another. No more of that. Because everyone there could see…”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah. So later she came outside to smoke a cigarette. And I was out there smoking what I smoke and she walks up to me and says, so you’re supposed to be the hot-shit f’king astrologer, are you?”

“Oh my God.”

“Yeah. She actually said that to me. That’s exactly what she said to me. And she said, then tell me this if you’re such hot shit. Why is it that I can’t find love?”

I snorted.

“And I told her, honey. I can tell you that. I can tell you why you can’t find love and I don’t need a chart to do it. And I will tell you that. But not until you go volunteer yourself for two years. You go be a volunteer for two years at the poorest, blackest hospital you can find for two years, then you come back to me and I’ll tell you why you can’t find love. I will give you a free consultation and I will tell you exactly why you cannot find love…”

She went on to tell me she could see this woman was going to get fired.

“And here she could have had a free astrologer tell her how she could protect herself from that, but no. She was so UN-attractive, she could not attract the help I could have given her. She repelled the help that was right there in front of her.”

cf feels these days it’s all about what is attractive.

Do you agree? And even more importantly, are you attractive?

been thinking alot lately about the ‘attraction’ principle — yes being attractive is important (as opposed to being repellant) …and especially in relationships, think it’s important to keep some distance, after all, how can you be attractive in the most literal sense, if you’re joined at the hip & right on top of someone. personally, of course i’m all that ! (venus in leo) ;-)

Hey so cool your story… that lady was working for the State of CA so that’s the local/federal story.

We are facing a new social order in the Age of Aqaurius, and here are a few of the “signs” that things are headed in a different direction.

I feel it’s all about attraction and it’s not what people think. In total, many more people ignore Paris Hilton than actually pay attention. She may be beautiful, but she doesn’t “attract” the good experiences we all deserve. She doesn’t feel a need for it. Until now.

Similarly, in this day, no cool employment situation happens to the ladies asking “When will I fall in love?” People with attitudes, it seems, are not attracting the love they need and want?

What is attractive?

Well, Elsa’s blog is attractive. A good example of what causes people to stop, and maybe think, but more: FEEL.

Feeling and Authenticity are attractive. Emotion and gushing are not.

We’ll be talking about this for a while, me feels.

cf

What’s up with that?

thanks for the nod, dog!

Authenticity & self-respect . . . that’s attractive. that is one sad excuse for a woman, nothing quite like an aura of desperation combined with a controlling personality to send perspective partners running for the hills! :)

I think that’s a fantastic example of how we attract or repel people and experiences. The whole concept of the laws of attraction can seem very complicated when people throw in a lot of flowery words to describe it. I love how the two of you cut right to the point in this story.

Yes, I agree and yes, I think am attractive.

That’s a brilliant observation, elsie. I have already mentioned your comment to two friends, mostly so I don’t forget it myself.

Attractive. I have Venus in Taurus making nice aspects to all my Cancerian planets.. a Pisces rising.. I’m a girly girl– I enjoy feminity, I love make up and fussing with my hair– (on a good day that is..) I do have a certain magnetism about me,I’m told–I also have a full moon aspect Sun Cancer Moon Cap– tend to bring attention to myself, for good or bad.. .. seem to get myself in the news, on the radio, etc. off and on all my life– but true ATTRACTIVENESS is about our ENERGY– and,I believe, our ability to INSPIRE.

Are you inspirational to others, in some way.. ? in your own snarky way, your own sweet way, your unique sexy way, your own analytical way.. if so–you are ATTRACTIVE and you will ATTRACT who and what you need to fulfill your particular karma..

hhmm.. merc. retro has got me thinking in very convuluted ways these days–I’m sorta anxious for the full moon to be OVER WITH!

Hello Elsa:
I read your article today about the persecution of Astrologers. I was reminded of the many similar experiences, I’ve endured. As a practicing astrologer for well over forty years, I could write a book on this subject!

I offer the following account, of perhaps my most public persecution as an Astrologer: Years ago, in 1974, as the newly elected President of The Hillsborough Astrological Association, (a small group of about 32 astrologers). I decided if we were to offer chart readings, to earn a few dollars, to buy books, etc., and begin our group library, we should be licensed. We were all in agreement, so I called the City of Tampa Occupational License Office, to inquire about licensing fees. I was astounded to hear the clerk say “No license for astrologers; the practice of Astrology is against the law; and if I catch you doing your own astrology chart, I will put you in jail!”
Well to say the least, I was shocked. We looked up the Tampa City statutes, and sure enough, there
it was; Astrology; lumped in with sooth-sayers, gypsy fortune tellers, witches; a host of “ugly and evil charlatans, etc”; all practices were forbidden, with stiff penalties for offenders.
This was the law in Tampa, Fl.,since 1845 or so.
Long story short; I requested a hearing for our group, and we appeared before Tampa City Council, to appeal that they change that law. Someone informed the Chairman of the Astronomy Dept at USF, about our meeting, and he showed up to block us. What a three ring circus! We made the front page of The Tampa Tribune. The very hostile U.S.F. Astromony Chairman insisted that I engage in a debate with him! (Then he hardly allowed me to get a word in!) He was quite insulting, to me and my group of mostly ladies, and a few gentlemen. He raved about how Hitler employed astrologers, and that meant astrology was evil! Also referring to astrologers as “Temple Prostitutes”, he claimed if we were licensed,
“There would be “Burnings in the streets of Tampa!” Then he called Astrology a religion, and demanded that it must be forbidden! Touche’ I quickly made my point! The Tampa City Statutes were changed, in our favor, and we were granted the right to be licensed astrologers! A totally unexpected bonus came when Tampa City Mayor William Poe made two Official City Proclamations; National Week of Astrology in Tampa, and Weekend of Astrology in Tampa. Some AFA staff members traveled to Tampa to hold an Astrology conference at the Riverside Hilton, as part of the festivities. That is when I began a concerted effort to promote astrology, as a positive and useful tool; a language of energies, that provides valuable insight. I never considered that anyone would disapprove of astrology, as I grew up in Pa. in a family, where astrology was spoken. As far as my feelings go, I’m sad to realize there are those who continue the mindless persecution of astrologers. There really is nothing new under the Sun!
Blessings of peace, and good will,

Virginia
