Libra Mars Starves To Death While Being Polite: Is This Smart?

So this is the disturbing story of my stoopid, lousy Libra Mars in action…
I was with ‘the other”. It was lunchtime and I was feeling hungry. “Are you hungry? I asked.
“No,” he said. I waited but he didn’t ask me if I were hungry. How rude is that?
An hour passed.
“You hungry?” I asked.
“Me? No, I’m not hungry.”
I stared. How could he not ask me if I were hungry? How?!?! Is he missing a lobe of his brain?
Another hour passed.
“Are you hungry?” And come on people. By now it should be obvious I am hungry, right? I was starved out of my mind!
“A little. Not really.”
::smiles::
Now I thought about saying I was hungry but I wondered just how thoughtless this guy could be. And how could he be so stupid and rude, too? How is it possible to be this insensitive!!! You know. How ruuuuuuuddde, says Libra.
I almost wanted to find out how long he could go without a thought for my well-being… and long story short, eventually we ate. And then I got home and I started thinking about this.
Why is it that when I’m hungry, I have to ask if the other is hungry so that I can eat? Why not just say, I’m hungry, I am going to eat. Or, I’m hungry, let’s get something to eat? Good God, could I possibly be more co-dependent?
But I never noticed this before because guess what? The AMF had Mars in Libra as well and we sounded like this, with the bits of conversation interchangeable:
“You hungry?”
“No, are you?”
“A little.”
“Oh, then we better get you something to eat.”
See that? We were both taking care of each other all the time, so no problem. But if you have Mars in Libra and you are running with Aries you better learn to say, I AM HUNGRY - FEED ME NOW or you are going to starve. Starve and then get pissed about it? Starve and then say it’s their fault?
Is it the other person’s fault because I can’t manage to say, I’m hungry? What kind of jacked up social pleasantry thing is this? I’m hungry so I ask if you’re hungry so you will ask if I am hungry?
::coughs::
Never again. From now on (unless I am running with tribe aka another Libra Mars) when I want to eat I am going to say, “I want to eat” and see if this doesn’t simplify things for me. 
Do you ask people if they are hungry because you want to eat?

ROFL!!! OMG, my honey and I wound up having a tiff last weekend b/c of that exact thing! He kept asking me if I was hungry and I really wasn’t, so I said, “No, not really, are you?” I think he said he was ok or something, no rush, but didn’t tell me, “Yes, I’m hungry and would like to go eat now rather than later.” So two hours later, when I was finally ready to eat, he was aggravated that it took so long to get food. GAH!! I told him, “You gotta TELL me these things! Don’t count on me figuring it out for myself!”
The funny thing is, we’re both Aries, but mine is a little more concentrated… His Mars is in Taurus though, so I’m boggled as to why he didn’t just say, “Hey, feed me!!” His Merc is in Pisces… Could it be a communication thing?
I know my SO doesn’t have Mars in Libra, but he sounds an awful lot like you. As a person with Mars in Aries, I can say for sure: please feed yourself. We’re assuming everyone is.
Oh man, can I relate. This one symbolizes the story of my relationships in so many ways. I have Mercury, Venus, and south node in Libra plus my moon is in the 7th house. Yeesh. This has taken me many, many years to become aware of (thank goodness for astrology)…now to put it into practice!
After 17 yrs with an Aries S/O, being very direct is what I recommend!! 
And if he’s typical, don’t wait to feed him . . . the grump factor goes up exponentially if not feed. It took awhile to convince him I DO NOT EAT first thing after waking . . . shudder.
One other thing that I’ve noticed when dealing with Aries …. tell them frequently how much you like them & life will run much more smoothly. Lots & lots of Aries Sun people in my family so this Libra Sun has learned through much experience how keep that keel even . . .
Merc in Pisces sometimes it seems like they expect that you’ve read their mind . . . always ask!
When I’m hungry, I say “I’m hungry - would you like something, too? I am almost always direct. As a Taurus, I like to know what’s up, not beat around the bush. I have no Libra except Neptune.
funny, though, My ex used to ask me if I’d like the last bite of his food sometimes - and if I did, I said sure and took it. We were married years before he told me he only did that to “be polite” and resented me not responding with “No, you go ahead”. Who knew?? His Mars was in Scorpio. The only Libra in his chart I know of is Saturn. My current SO has Saturn in Libra as well - I guess I must like the rule followers.
I have a lot of Libra–Moon, Jupiter, and Uranus, so I’m always aware of the “right” and “proper” things to do, but I have an Aries ASC and a Leo Sun/Mars conjunction. Sure I think about what others want to eat, but I make sure *I* get fed too. 
Fortunately enough (or not) I manage to start my sentences with “I” a lot -even though I don’t have Leo. But now I know why I could never lash out at people that cut me in line and I do worry a lot about other people’s needs.
Since my Mars opposites the Ascendant, there is a constant struggle between not being able to lash out at others and doing that almost cruely. And, as you can see, I tend NOT to take a stand on anything I say. lol Oh you’re right, it’s lousy 
oh HELL no.
If I’m at home “Honey, I’m getting a snack, would you like anything?”
If I’m not at home, I probably have snacks in my backpack, but if not I’ll mention that I need to stop and eat.
OMG! that is sooooo me!! It’s horrible, really…but then, I have a Libra moon, so I’m always checking on others first. I’m forever frustrating my S/O b/c of that…
It’s funny to read Neith’s comment tho’, b/c I’m very much the Aries when it comes to the “grump factor” (from not eating) and having to eat as soon as I get up. Fortunately, I wake up before anyone else, so it’s easy to get myself fed first (and avoid any grumpiness).

You know, that sounds about right! He does that from time to time and sometimes fails to realize that I tend to be more than a little oblivious to the less-than-obvious. (Aries Sun, Merc, Venus here.) Once he tells me what he wants/needs, the Cancer Mars kicks in, but if he doesn’t speak up I just ‘La la la la la!’ through my day!
I am extremely tied to the state of my stomach. If it isn’t happy, I’m not. And I can be a real pill about it too. I have to like what we’re eating or else I will complain about it. Loudly.
I am usually the meal planner in my world. I’m either deciding when and where we’re going to eat or cooking for everyone and feeding them when and what I want to eat. Virgo Mars, Cancer Venus.
Ha. I usually just tell them. “Hey, I’m hungry, are you?”
And if they say, “Nah, not really.” I’d say,
“Well, can I get something to eat? I’m kindna hungry.”
I just sort of assume that the person understands. Because when you’re hungry, that’s all you think about. And I’d like to think it’s for the other person’s well being. Who wants to be around someone hungry? When you have food, you feel much better and happier, yes?
On family vacation, I (Mars in Libra) once asked if we could stop for a snack. It was 2pm and we hadn’t eaten since about 7am, so I thought this to be a completely reasonable request.
As we were about to leave the car to buy some food, my dad turned and declared that I had always been the weakest link. Wtf? Both my parents have Mars in Aries…
Hilariously, when the the time came to find a place to stay the night, I was the only one who had the energy to ask around for vacancy at the hotels! ROFL! My dad had the wits to apologize, but I have nevertheless moved to a different part of the country:) - there’s been too much of this bs to mention.
I thought this was such a sweet little story.
I have my mars in virgo in the first house, and am anorexic..so i’m generally asking people if they need to eat..Taking care of others needs, while denying my Own..(so virgo:)

not really, unless we are suposed to eat together for some reason. I guess if I’m out with someone and I want to eat I will ask if they want to eat, but if they don’t i’ll just ask them to come with me because I need to eat. I wouldn’t be shocked if they didn’t ask back, wouldn’t bother me.
It would problably go like this:
me- I’m getting hungry, are you?
other- hm, not really.
me- well, I’ll need to eat soon, do you want to come with me or shall we meet later?
