I hear where you are coming from Elsa, but I think it’s great. It’s giving astrology an equal spot in the “vocation” category being used to rehabilitate.

Obviously generalizations are dangerous, but most people in jail/prison have not lost their soul, want to lead a good life, and are caught in the cultural snares of poverty etc. So anything that empowers and gives respectability can’t be bad.

I don’t know as much about the eastern/vedic slant, but astrology in general can also lead to self understanding and that also can’t be bad.

But then, I have a soft spot in my heart for the unteneble circumstances that land people in jail/prison and have done a fair amount of work with that group myself….

If by ‘improve the reputation of astrologers’ you mean horribly damage what meager reputation we still have at this point then, yes, it will probably improve our reputation.

Also, contrary to what the previous comment says above, it is indeed a fact that all people in jail have lost their souls. I read it in a semi-reputable book somewhere.

I dont see this as a bad thing only a badly written article. Astrology gives you some knowledge and power over your own life if you choose to believe in it. It gives you insite into dynamics and understanding that challenge is not always a bad thing. Someone coming from an institutioanlized background could get alot from this information.

I think it’s great. In the culture where they’re being trained astrology has a decent reputation and it would indeed be likely to rehabilitate the prisoners. In part, by giving them a “place” in society like any other vocation.

If it were tried in the US I’d laugh my a*** off! But there, great idea!
