On Writing Advice For Sagittarius: Mutable Signs Mutate!

Astrology In Real Life…

planeMy editor HQ regarding today’s advice the Sagittarian blog:

“Edited fairly lightly. I actually added punctuation here and there, but only when absolutely necessary (I thought). If it’s too much, just revert away…

For some reason, this post read as more “breathless” than usual - there were a few run-ons and the like. So I had to punctuate just to make sense of it. But I figured you were writing like that on purpose, since the post was about Sadge/travel/moving fast. I think all your posts about Sadge read as “fast” so I tried to leave that vibe in there.”

I responded, “Yes… exactly right impression. You know astrology these days, HQ!”

“Haha u should blog about this…”

I am highly mutable and I do change my manner when writing to specific signs. With Sagittarius, I figure they’re moving so I’d better. I always imagine them checking my blog on their cell phone from an airport while moving in the line towards the gate to board their plane… with one carry on bag and nothing checked! You don’t want to bog a person like that down. It’s just not right.

And then the next question will be from a non-Sadge and invariably I have to down shift. I do the same in real life. Don’t the rest of you mutables (Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces) do this?

My manner and speech patterns change based on who I am talking to...

I’m mutable but I don’t think I change the way I speak or move or act with each person. Perhaps because I have Cancer Rising and Mercury in Aries. I think I’m always the same… but with a Pisces Sun, who knows?

Now that you mention it…. I’m a double Sag and talk sooooo fast sometimes, the thoughts come faster than I can say them and then I seem a bit verbally clumsy. I do notice myself speaking to some differently, and I just don’t do well talking to slow speakers, it drives me crazy, but I do my best. I am primarily mutable.

But the thing about one checked bag and no carry on? That fits me so perfectly I laughed. But you forgot the coffee in the other hand :)

Fixed, fifth house Sag. Developing the patience to talk to children and old people was well worth it. (to me, not necessarily to the children and old people). Switching gears between types of people is a talent that still eludes me.

I always get picked up on for changing my accent when I speak to people. It’s not something I do on purpose but sometimes I get called out on for being fake or trying too hard to fit in. I don’t have many plants in mutable signs but I am a Sag. rising.

There’s actually a linguistic term for this (adapting speech). I was the worst for doing this when I lived overseas. I used whatever words were used (cooker instead of stove, bin instead of garbage, dunny instead of toilet, ciao instead of see ya). It just snowballs out of control with me.

I was never a person who would ‘keep’ an accent when I returned home, though. I’d morph back into my given language, lickity split. It’s something I think of, because (like savetonight) I have been called out on it. But I don’t give a shit! It’s an instinctual human trait and it’s nothing to be shy about.

*Equal parts Cardinal and Fixed*

I’m with Kashmiri and Savetonight - my tone, vocabulary, accent and speed all change depending who I’m talking to where. Although I’ve lived in the same geographical area my whole life (the Appalachians), when I went on a whirlwind European tour one summer my “voice” changed every day.

Slightly (one planet) more cardinal than fixed with mutable bringing up a close third, no Sag at all.
