Astrology Today: Grand Cross in the Mutable Signs

My eye on the sky

astrology cartoonCartooning is an interesting form of writing. You have to get your message across very succinctly. But there is an even shorter form.

Do you have someone in your town… a business or in this case a church who maintains an outdoor sign which a changing message that is snappy? Most towns do and we are fortunate here to have a several very good sign writers.

So today, I drove by the church with the good sign, it’s two-sided and whatever it says is always clever on one level or another. So today’s sign said:

“WANT TO WORRY LESS?”

I drove by (on my scooter) and glanced back to read the back side:

“PRAY MORE”.

Jupiter laughed at that.

Here’s the grand cross in that:

Worry is Virgo, praying is Pisces so there is that opposition.

Also involved in today’s cross is Venus (your desire… less worries) and Jupiter (the sign is in front of a church)!

I have no intention of going to church but if I ever did, I would pick the one with the amusing sign, I think. Or the one with the most songs and the least rules.

How about you? How do you, did you, or would you pick a church?

If I had the guts..I would SO go to a black church here in Philly with a good gospel choir. Maybe one day :)

I’ve only been to one Sunday service in my life…and that was totally by choice, mind you! I was curious about it and wanted to see if what I remembered from going to an Evangelical daycare was still accurate. For the record, it was! If you want one that’s big on songs and light on rules, find an Evangelical Christian church in your area. Almost the entire service was singing…the band had a real set-up, too! Electric guitars and everything ;) I was actually moved while there (got chills and everything), but Christianity doesn’t mesh that well w/my personal beliefs. Plus, with Jupiter in the 11th, I think I’d have to find a non-denominational church or something. I don’t think I “cotton” well to churchs w/a lot of rules (i.e., restrictions).

I chose my church (United Church of Christ)because they were going to New Orleans to work after Katrina and I begged them to let me go with them. Even though I was afraid to go that far with complete strangers, they could not have been more loving and caring of me.

There’s a church in my city called Church of Rock and I am so tempted to go because I want to see if they really do rock. But I have Neptune conjunct my Sag ascendant, so I prefer spiritual things that allow for wandering and solitude.

The longer I live in Italy, the more religious institutions annoy me. Well, especially the catholic church. I’ve always had a soft spot for catholicism, but it’s fading FAST.

I’m Wiccan and one of our commonly quoted phrases is from the charge of the Goddess. “All acts of love and pleasure are my ritual.” That’s my church. :)

I don’t go to a church, but I did go through a phase where I accompanied friends to services because I wanted to see what the big deal was. I’ve got to disagree with Lisa about the Evangelical Christian services — at least from my experience, where they told me that (this is basically verbatim) “If non-Christians tell you, ‘You believe what you believe, and I’ll believe what I believe,’ they’re REALLY saying that they think your beliefs are stupid.” I’ve never been more weirded out. Nobody was down with the gays and everybody was really into keeping it in their pants (although some people hadn’t, and they really needed to talk to their pastor and feel better about being so weak against the temptations of flesh).

The nicest experience I had was when I went to the Thai Buddhist temple and ate nice food and simply absorbed the peaceful atmosphere of prayer. I do better, I think, when no one is telling me how to live.
