Astrology, Credibility and How You Might Tell What Is Real and What Is Not

Astrology in Real Life…

elsa martinelliI was talking to a pal, about the soldier again:

“Well he’s got some pretty way out stories,” I said. “They are way out there. But here’s the thing. He told me the same stories when we were kids. He used to say this same stuff and when someone tells you something weird and they tell you the same thing decades later, well you have to grant them some credibility. Because people can think all kinds of things. They can go through a phase but if the thing is not real, it will drop off.”

“That’s true.”

“For example, my name. There was a time I was going to change the spelling. I was going to be Else with an E not an A but still pronounce it the same.” Continue reading Astrology, Credibility and How You Might Tell What Is Real and What Is Not

Pluto, Scorpio and the 8th House: School Bullies, Negative Projections and Burning Witches at the Stake

Astrology in Real Life

last great act of defiance I mentioned my current interest in people who fixate on me in a negative way. This is such a constant theme in my life, it finally occurred to me I ought to study it and now that I’ve broken through I can see that what I have learned has positive implications and applications I did not anticipate.

For my example, my daughter gets bullied at school at times. She is targeted and as a parent, it’s horrific. It is terrible to send your kid to school to be persecuted however it has to be done.

I am fortunate in that the negative attention does not bother my daughter all that much. On a scale of 1-10 it bothers her at about a 2 or 3 where it bothers me at a 9! It would bother me at a 10 if it bothered her more than it does but as it is, I get off a easy courtesy her nature. So here’s the thing:

When your kid is being bullied there is little you can do. You wind up saying all these classic things that parents and counselors say that may be well-intended but really don’t help all that much. But after exploring this in my own life I have something new to tell my daughter which I imagine once applied will bring my pain to a 6 and hers to near nothing. Not bad.

For the record, I think people who attract negative projections are by and large Scorpio / 8th house / Plutonians, sort of like the witches who were burned at the stake. And in fact my daughter is a Scorpio rising with Pluto conjunct so she is going to exude power anyway you turn it. And I guess I see it this way these days:

If it is going to rain on you constantly, you may as well plant some crops. Scorpio (in whatever form) has got to learn to say, “Bring it on,” and that is all there is to it.

Can you relate?

Astrology Today: Paint Your Toenails

My eye on the sky

zodiacIt’s mild out there for most. A good day to paint your toenails as my sister would say. Take a break after enduring this last week’s chaos while you wait for the next scene to set up because it is definitely setting up.

Do you know how to take a break when one is on offer or do you stay keyed up?

Yin and Yang in the Gym: Are You There To Work Out? Attract and Titillate? Buddy Up? What?

Ask the Collective

free weightsI mentioned hitting the track in the gym that wraps around the free weight section where all the muscle heads hang out. There are others but it is undeniably male and Marsy up there with all the iron being flung around which gives me both a thrill and a blush.

And I think about cutting across this area (I call it “the pit”) but would never have the courage, fearing and feeling I could get pregnant in the time it would take to short-cut like that, me walking through this minefield of testosterone. But there are women who do venture into this territory and they fascinate me. There are 3 types:

virgo pin up 50sThere are some who stand in the area, but they keep to the edge and face away from the men. They are always in pairs and sort in there but not in there. I consider them “in denial”. You know. We’re in here with the men but not really, sort of like gals who go to a singles bar in groups and pretend they are not there to meet men.

The second type dresses scantily and she is there to titillate. You know those girlie posters in auto shops? These are like live versions of those posters and I am amused.

The last type is most interesting to me and also fairly rare. These are feminine women (non-steroid bodies) who can merge and blend with the men. Women who actually fit in the environment seamlessly and every time I see a gal like this I have the urge to interview her. I want her birth data! I think I am attracted because these women are the most exotic to my type.

If you were in the gym, who would your most resemble and who would you find most interesting? Does this show up in your chart?

Attracted To The Unusual? Uranus In Relationship

Astrology in Real Life

ufo conventionBen and I have tracked each other for 25 years. We keep each other filled in as to what we’re up to, the turns we make in our lives and so forth. We were talking about the soldier, and the various ways my association with him has been impacting and influencing me. I have a 7th house Uranus. So does Ben. It indicates a strong attraction to the unusual.

“Well Ben, he’s extremely acute. He’s a specimen at the end of the continuum and on more than one level. And although it’s enormously uncomfortable relating to him at times, ultimately you cannot hang around someone like him and not learn all kinds of things. So I have been learning all kinds of things and a variety of things too. The things I learn shock and alarm me at times but ultimately please me. I don’t mind the discomfort. How else am I going to find this stuff out? I’m learning things about him, things about life in general and things about myself of course.”

I quit talking but Ben didn’t say anything. It’s his MO to listen and absorb everything and then comment when it’s all been said. But I still pause in case he has a question even though he almost never does.

“He’s potent and very unusual. But I am not talking about the soldier stuff. There is that, but he doesn’t need any of that to be interesting. He has other things going. For example, he’s not really from this world. Well he is, but he’s definitely not from this society. He does not belong in the society we live in today. It is literally as he comes from some other time in history and was airdropped here into the current age. And he’s just walking around like that, with his alternative… he has views from another time and place and he has them hard core and for real so you can imagine my fascination. It’s endless. There is just no way I am not going to want to find out everything I can in a situation like this and I can’t imagine anyone who knows me thinking I would do anything but.”

When you meet someone who is OUT THERE are you attracted? Do you have Uranus mashed up with Venus or the 7th house?

Bi-Sexual Teenager Wonders How To Live in This World: Aquarius Sun, Pisces Moon

Hi Elsa,

I am a bisexual teenager. I know that I may seem too young to be in love and that you may say that I am too young to love… but I know that I am in love, because my feelings for other people from my past seem so fake compared to the feelings I have inside. You see, I am in love with a Sagittarius woman who I think MIGHT like me back, and a Gemini man whose eyes I can’t stop staring into.

The problem is, how do I tell them I love them, how do I explain my hidden orientation, how do I know that they love me back - and are there any signs or signals that they do? And how do I keep this secret from my parents and other people who COMPLETELY have prejudice and hatred against bi and gay people?

PLEASE help me,
Aloof Aquarius
United States

aquariusDear Aquarius,

It is a true challenge to be 14, what with puberty and all. No one is exactly stable with their hormones raging and it may be some comfort to keep this in mind. My daughter is your age and I tell her constantly that not only is she crazy and struggling, so is everyone else in her school - and that seems to support her. Puberty is an adventure and also something she can detach from and view intellectually, which is an Aquarius forte. Because the fact is: regardless of the exterior, virtually everyone in your age bracket is half-crazed trying to figure it out!

And I mention this is because I think you’d be best served by paying less attention to the individual questions which will ultimately solve themselves, and focus instead on figuring out how you are going to live in the this soup we call society. Your Gemini man and your Sagittarius woman and your parents are all part of the soup. They have a role to play, you have a role to play, and with a stellium (group of planets) in Aquarius and another in Pisces, you are going to be somewhat out of bounds… this is just the way it is.

So in the case of your parents, someday you are going to shock them, aren’t you? I would say this is inevitable and as to when you want to do that, the answer is whenever you like. It’s your life!

On the generalized hate out there, I don’t think you should pay it much mind. People do have prejudice against gays but they are also prejudiced against any number of other things. This race judges that… while the moneyed judge the poor, and the poor judge the moneyed. Best not be too attractive. Best not be overweight! You get the idea. It will not help you to take a victim position. Why feel set upon when the guy next to you is oppressed as well but in a different way?

Last, these two loves of yours. I would just take that a day a time. You’ll tell them whatever you tell them on the day you tell them! And this may not seem like ‘advice” but it is actually the best thing anyone could tell you. That you are FREE, that is. And they will react however they react because they are also free. And this is also, just the way it is.

And you don’t have to take this so seriously. For example earlier this year, my daughter, who is a fairly mature 11 year old in 7th grade, ran around and told the whole school she was bi-sexual. There was an uproar, which I think she quite enjoyed. She has since decided she is not so sure and wondered if she made a mistake. I told her there are no mistakes and maybe you get the point.

Never mind the details. Try to develop a philosophy that you can live by. One that allows everyone to be whoever they are and this includes the bigots (of all kinds).

Good luck.

Good Luck Romanticizing Addiction With Saturn Opposing Neptune

Astrology in Real Life

saturnGerald G. May writes in "Addiction and Grace: Love and Spirituality in the Healing of Addictions":

“Addiction exists wherever persons are internally compelled to give energy to things that are not their true desires.”

Sobering, huh?

Do you give energy to your true desires?

Mars Conjunct Uranus: Violence Erupts - Episode 2

Astrology in Real Life…

lou ferrignoAnd violence erupted a second time today, this time I was in my car. I was in the middle lane, three lanes of traffic going in the same direction. There was a Suburban in front of me, trying to change lanes, his right turn signal. He was slowing, so I hit my brakes to allow him space to get over, which he did and after than, I don’t know what happened.

All the sudden, the Suburban pulled back into the center lane, my lane, stopping on a diagonal, completely blocking the lane. Next thing I know this guy is out of this Suburban like this is a movie or something.

He looked big and he was swearing and stuff… at a car in left lane, other side of my car.

Can you see this? I am parked… blocked in on all sides. There is a giant standing in front of my car, right at the bumper. He was not Lou Ferrigno but he was akin to that, with his steroid forehead prominent and me?

Well having Libra so I have to pick a side and the side I have to pick is the weaker one so I can balance. So I immediately decide to defend the guy in the red car. You know. I am going to help the other people pull this big guy off because I am not going to have someone beat someone to death on the hood of my car.

But then the guy in the red car gets out and get this: He’s this smallish Asian man who looks like he just got his hair done because it’s just as slick and trick as it can be guess what? He is not going to take any crap off this dude.

“YOU TRYIN’ TO START SOMETHIN’ WITH ME?’”

The Asian guy said looking very good and ready to fight to the death. And at that, I almost laughed. Because this other guy was huge. He was ENORMO. But the Asian guy was meeeeean. So at that point I decided it was okay if they wanted to fight. I mean, what the hell? Go ahead and fight each other and the rest of us will just wait while you do and after you’re done I’ll clean the blood off my car. But that didn’t happen. They backed each other down and we all went on our way.
