Jupiter’s Transition From Scorpio to Sagittarius and the Gossip Industry: Has It’s Popularity Peaked?

Trends in the Collective

perez hiltonNow this may be personal to me, but that’s why I’m asking. I have noticed various shifts since Jupiter left Scorpio for Sagittarius and here’s another. I have absolutely had it with the gossip industry. I am just sick to death of the negativity. I am sick of hearing about who is fat, who is thin, who is doing who and most of all, I am sick of the publishing (Jupiter) of the genitals (Scorpio) of starlets. Aren’t you?

I am tired of reading the dirt on everybody, all the time. I am looking for things higher-minded these days. We’ve still got Pluto (the dirt) in Sagittarius (Publishing) but not for long. I think this gossip gig is about up, and what about you?

Do you think gossip is still in vogue or is your attention shifting?

I think it is here to stay for a while unfortunately. Society is far too fascinated with the mundane and ridiculous.

For the most part, I’ve been growing steadily more disinterested. Of course, I wasn’t overly interested in the first place… Another interesting thing is that, with the stories I am still interested in (like Britney and Anna Nicole), I’m not watching with horror and fascination so much as with hope that there’s going to be a happy ending. Like Britney getting her life together and keeping her kids, and Anna Nicole’s daughter’s real father being determined and her being able to have a home.

I think the number of people who are sick of it will grow and grow. A lot of people have had it it to here with the negativity.

I hate it and I’ve always hated it. I don’t get why people are so fascinated with all the celebrity dirt or even the non-dirt.

I’ve never had any interest in it in the first place.

One of my favourite news-shows (the Hour. It’s a Canadian thing), recently instituted a ban on Paris Hilton stories though, refusing to do them anymore. Love it.

I’ve really tuned out to much of what’s going on. I’d prefer to focus on the things I consider to be important.

I’ve never thought gossip was vogue.

Maybe Jupiter moving out of Scorpio and Pluto out of Sag forecasts the end of the popularity of tell-all books but gossip will always be with us. Isn’t gossip Gemini and Mercury ruled?

I’ve never really been into Hollyweird gossip, cos frankly I don’t care about any of those people. And I think the American public is finally caring less, too. This will never go away completely, but I really do hope it lessens. It makes me never want to be famous. *gag*

I think that on the one hand the celebrity gossip industry can often be overdone and can be quite distasteful, for example with the current circus surrounding the death of Anna Nicole Smith, but on the other hand it can often be kind of interesting and educational if you are looking at it from an astrological perspective. To a certain extent I would say that studying celebrities has always been a big part of astrology, from the Babylonian tradition all the way through the Hellenistic, Medieval and especially the modern tradition, and this may tell us that celebrity gossip is something that has been going on for quite a long time. I myself am guilty of doing a bit of this with my blog, so perhaps that is why I am defending it a bit here, but I do totally understand and agree for the most part with your point. Unfortunately I don’t think that this aspect of our culture is going anywhere anytime soon.

I’ve completely burned out. I won’t even pick up a stray People at the gym any more. And I used to blog about the silly gossip daily.

Though I’m not sure if this is due to an astrological change so much as it is that my celebrity crush, who normally stayed out of the gossip mags, is now full on in there with the idiot he’s dating, and I’m just sick of reading about it.

I’ve been providing mini transit analyses over at AOL Horoscopes Celebrity Week in Review. Although I don’t pour over TMZ, and generally am not very interested in gossip, I find it interesting that there’s always at least some meaningful minor transit relating to some celebrity mishap. So I would agree with Chris.

Celeb gossip is a guilty pleasure.
I read it on a daily basis for the
funny commentary and the occasional “trainwreck”.
I’ve reduced my sources to 3 blogs because I sense an overdose is coming.

Saturn in Leo is probably to blame too?

  14. satori says on 3/8/07 at 11:57 pm:

oh yeah, I’m sick of it but I’m still addicted. the market will still be there in the folks like me till we finally break down and go to tabloid rehab.
