Here comes the Mercury opposition again. Communication like ping pong.

“Well I was just glad to hear from you,” he said.

“I was glad to hear from you.”

“I was surprised you were glad to hear from me,” he said. “I didn’t think you’d want to talk to me again.”

“Well I didn’t think you’d want to talk to me, either,” I said. “You’re the one who had the reason not to. I am the one who pulled the stunt. I always am. It is always me with the drastic action.”

“I like that about you.”

“Well you would, I suppose. Or you do. Obviously you do because it never fails. I am the one who picks up the helmet. I am the one who shows up at the party I am expressly not to be at.”

“He laughed. “Yep, you do. You do pull some stunts all right.”

“Yeah, well I can’t help it. I’m just… reactive I guess. I react and that’s all there is to it.”

“It’s one of you best features, P. Miss P. You’re firey and that’s all there is to it. And I like it when you go off and do something.”

“Oh yeah. I will burn you down and that’s always fun… not! But anyway I’m not sure if I should do what I do or not. I just know I do it and it may be right. I am not sure it’s wrong, anyway. What I do may be exactly right. For example should I beat you with a helmet or let you dance with other girls and provoke me? You know. Should I let you treat me like that or not?”

“No way.”

“Well I agree. So maybe it’s just as well I try to kill you. There. Now no one is confused.”

“Well that’s the way I see it,” he said.

I just laughed. “Well you would understand. You jump out of airplanes.”

“I do. And I love it. Most natural thing in the world.”

“I know. And I’m the same in my own way. And if I feel like I’m hanging somewhere or in some way this is painful, I will definitely cut the rope and take my chances. I will free fall to the ground without hesitation, rather than hang there and wonder or wait for someone to save me. If I have the option, this is. Because sometimes you do have to hang.”

“Yep.”

“But if I’m hanging by a rope and I’ve got knife on me, well that’s it. I am going to cut that thing.”

“Gotcha, P. You’re a free bird.”
