The Soldier Reaches Out - Part 4: Beware The Mail

garland jeffreys in denverTalking to the soldier:

“Well I’m glad you wrote. When I saw your name come up in my email, I was instantly happy. I was really glad. And I had no idea all this other stuff. I didn’t know I was dying but as soon as I saw your name, I knew it would be a good mail. You know. It wouldn’t be scathing.”

“Now why in the world would I ever send you a scathing email? ” He laughed.

“Oh, I don’t know. You wouldn’t. I guess that’s the point. I knew you wouldn’t be sending me anything bad, so that’s why I was glad to see your name. I was happy and surprised and glad.”

“Well I am never going to send you any kind of… scathing, anything. God, P. Sometimes you make no sense at all. There are no circumstances in this world under which I would ever send you…”

I interrupted him. “Well things between us didn’t end very well, you know. And if you had something ugly to say, I think you’d have been within your rights. I think you’d have been justified to say anything in the world to me. But I knew when I saw your name this is not what you’d be up to. You know. I just new that nothing bad was going to come to me if it was sent by you.”

“That’s right. That’s exactly right, P.”

“I know. So that’s what I am saying. I knew it was going to be good so I was just crazy happy to see your name. Like, oh thank God, there he is. He wrote me.”

fed ex truckSome years ago, HQ sent me some concert tickets. It was a profound gift. He stalked Garland Jeffreys website for more than a year and quite miraculously he was coming here to play a show in this dive bar. This was all unbeknownst to me. I mean, I’d written about how much I like his music is all. And then a year later this Fed-Ex truck pulls up in front of my house.

And I thought, oh crap! Someone is suing me! Never mind Fex-Ex does not serve summons, this is what I thought anyway. You know. More trouble!

So I opened up the envelope and saw these tickets and just burst into tears. And this is what it’s like to be Capricorn, people. Fear! And my Mars Mercury conjunction plays as well. Fights and anger (Mars) comes in the mail (Mercury), allll the time.

And the conjunction is in the 9th house (court). But the 9th house also brings expansion, opportunity, generosity, benefits… so sometimes my mail is not just un-bad, but wonderful. I had one of the best nights of my life at that show. I had one of those supernaturally rich experiences, just freakishly good.

Here’s the conversation with HQ when I called to thank him once I got myself calmed down, and my tears stopped, and my heart to stop pounding.”

“Yeah, shocked. It almost stopped my heart,” I said. “I saw that truck and I thought, oh God, someone is suing me.”

“What?”

“I thought was going to get served again,” I said. “You know. A lawsuit?”

“By a Fedex truck?” He was baffled.

“By any truck.”

“You mean to tell me that you see a Fedex truck in front of your house and automatically think you’re getting sued? It doesn’t occur to you someone might be sending you something?”

“No, it doesn’t it. I thought I was getting sued. Even when I saw the envelope was sent from New York, I still thought I was getting sued and perhaps it was going to be even worse then the last. I saw the address and thought oh crap. Now someone in New York is suing me!”

He couldn’t believe it. “You’re the only person I know who would see a FexEx truck in front of their house and assume they’re getting sued.”

“Well I don’t know what to say about that. Other people are lucky I guess. Because people love to sue me for no reason at all and if it happens enough times you just figure it’s going to happen again.”

“So this is like a double present then?” he asked.

“What do you mean?”

“Not only are you not getting sued, you are going to see a show?”

“Yes, that’s right. That’s exactly how it was and this is why my heart stopped for a time. Because of the shock of the good fortune. I don’t know how to describe to you the level… the amount of my pleasure.”

“You already have. I’ve never met anyone in my life… I don’t know anyone who is so this grateful for just the littlest thing.”

“Huh?”

“Never mind, Elsa. Enjoy the show.”

Oh, my mail is good. Even when other things are bad, my mail is always good (not email though; it has laws of its own, and sometimes I am scared to open email). I get a lot of gifts through the mail: I got special tea the other day, but people send me clothes and books too :-). Mercury in virgo in the 3rd house…
