Does Eating What You Like and Liking Who You’re With Make You Feel and Look Terrific?
Ask The Collective…
Speaking of food and culture… and " Dr Emoto’s experiments with water ", check this from "The Gospel of Food"
by Barry Glassner.
Glassner writes:
“In one of my favorite studies, Swedish and Thai women were fed a Thai dish the Swedes found overly spicy. The Thai women, who like the dish, absorbed more iron from the meal. When the researchers reversed the experiment and served hamburger, potatoes and beans, the Swedes, who like this food, absorbed more iron. Most telling was a third variation of the experiment, in which both the Swedes and the Thais were given food that was high in nutrients but consisted of a sticky, savorless paste. In this case, neither group absorbed much iron.”
Now he’s making a case for the idea you should eat what you want, whatever it is you like, but I couldn’t help but think of Dr Emoto’s water crystals.
Emoto would expose water to good energy and get beautiful crystals to form. When the water was exposed to chaos or insults, the crystals were deformed. And I imagine spicy food is an assault on the senses of someone accustomed to a blander diet and so there is no synergy between the body and the food.
And I think this is another argument for the idea that hanging around people you like, who like you, will promote health, well being… and even attractiveness.
So when I hear Oprah, or whoever telling me to relax by lighting some candles and taking a bath, I just laugh. Like that’s going to help. I like spicy food, man! I like spicy people. Fact is, taking a bath with candles (unless I just had sex) is going to do nothing but agitate me.
And what type things do have affinity with? What things leave you cold?

hmm. I’m the opposite of “I thrive in adverse conditions”
And my logic around this is we are spirit, and in the “spirit world” or Home, there is no adversity, and that’s why it’s not comfortble or health/beauty/happiness inducive do be in adverse conditions.
Being a pisces sun and south node, and moon conjunct neptune, I guess I need this Home feeling more then other people. ????
Why do some people like adversity and others don’t?
I’d say “Eating what you like and liking who you’re with promotes optimum health” except I now know chocolates may make me happy but they aren’t healthy.
So it depends on wether what happens to make you happy will be useful for the body.
Even is that’s not the case, the happiness you get from it certainly will increase your health in other ways, like empowering your imune system.
things that make me feel so extremely happy i feel the health and atractiveness invade me:
-cuddling a puppy
-diving slowly in the warm transparent waters of the sea
-lately, eating tamarillos
-a fireplace + a good book + a silent house in the country
what leaves me cold: stress
It’s really not what you eat, it’s how much of it you eat. I eat whatever I damn well please, including things like cheesecake, ice cream, and bacon, but I make sure I never eat more than I need. And not only have I never been above my ideal weight, I’m one of the happiest people I know. So my experience lines up exactly with this Gospel of Food guy’s ideas.
The thing that is most appealing to me about astrology is the basic concept that people are intrinsically different. Advice that is useful for one kind of person is going to be useless for somebody else. I’m a Capricorn, so if I am stressing out over work, the dumbest thing I could do is sit down in a bathtub for an hour with nothing to do but worry about work! If people want to be happy (and healthy), they have got to get wise to themselves and do what works for them, not what works for others. (Which probably applies to the food thing too. Maybe some people just can’t stay healthy if they had no restrictions on their diet. Just because it works for me…)
I have held for a good number of years that if you loved your food it will love you back. I love to eat and I maintain my weight pretty evenly.
What kinds of things do I have an affinity with? Beaches, baths, waterfalls, lakes…anything to do with water. I have almost zero water in my chart, and tons of fire.
Maybe I thwart myself and try to put out the fires? My Capricorn moon and Sun Square Saturn deal?
And I am one of those people who takes days off work just to think. So I have an affinity with people who philosophize. About what? I literally don’t care. I’ll talk to anyone about what they want to talk about and I am an expert at changing the conversation when it gets a little stagnant.
Ah! And I eat what I like and like who I’m with and look fabulous.
(catches fat head in doorway on way out)
I picked adverse conditions. I have so many of them in my life all the time, it must be because I thrive on them, right?

I chose “balance.” (I have Libra, for Pete’s sake! :D)
But I do honestly feel like you need a challenge every so often, whenever you start to get too comfortable. If not, you might be like the kid in the “Deprivation - It Has It’s Upside: Making a Case For Saturn / Capricorn” entry. And, really, who wants that?!
