I figured out why I’m having so much angst over traveling in ugly pants. Could it be Libra (beauty) in the 9th house (travel)? I think so!

I always travel in a dress. Always. I want to look nice, plus I’m far more comfortable in a skirt or a dress than I am in pants. I actually hate wearing pants, although I recognize they are necessary on the rare occasion

But I’ve actually ridden a motorcycle in a dress many times, so I am pretty sure I’m on to something here. Like exercising (Mars) prettily (Libra), leave it to me to zoom around (Mars Mercury) on a motorcycle in a dress (pretty Libra). This is so embarrassing but as it turns out a person is just the way they are no matter how hard they try otherwise

Now I wonder if I swear (more) when wearing a skirt and tend to talk sweetly when wearing pants? You know. Balance! I bet I do!

Mars represents raw make energy. Sex, violence, aggression, etc. Mercury represents communication, also cars. I have these planets fused in my chart so I can’t have one without the other, and currently Mars in the sky is transiting in aspect setting the whole thing off.. flaring it, you could say.

Yesterday I had way too much energy. I started the day wailing to HQ, lamenting the ugliness in the world. And when he probed for more information and clarification, I came back with a fierce swearing diatribe filled with sexual imagery as my Mars Mercury conjunction is prone to do.

Yes, absolutely. The astrology is very clear. Uranus transits bring impulse to experiment. The 8th house in a birth chart represents sex among other things and Uranus is currently going into your 8th house. On top of that it will conjunct your Mars (more sex) in Pisces so you’re going to try some new things!

But I don’t want you (or anyone else with an impulse) to worry one bit. So I am going to tell you a story about how this works. Because I have Uranus tied up with the 8th house in my natal chart, and I would know.

When I was 17, I was already a very sexual person. This is my nature. And one day the No-Tel Motel opened in my town. It was a motel where you could rent a room by the hour and it had these porn movies piped in. And this was unheard of back then! This was a pure scandal and the motel was on the news, morning, noon and night. People organized and began to picket the place and when they threatened to burn it down, well that was it! I had to go there. I just haaaaaaad to.

See, I was curious. I was from the desert and I had never seen porn or movies or anything. I grew up without a tv! But also I just wanted to cross a picket line! Uranus wants to defy! Uranus wants to do what Uranus wants to do so after three days of watching this on the news, I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I called up the soldier.

Briiinnnnng! Briiiiiiiiing!

“Hey, man. You know that No-tel Motel?” I asked. “Have you heard of it?’

“Yeah.”

“Well I’m going. Wanna come?”

We roared laughing and a few hours later we met outside the motel and crossed the picket line together, me with the biggest grin you could possibly imagine. And we rented this room. And you know what?

We turned on the porn and it took me all of two minutes to decide it wasn’t for me. Borrrrrrrrrring! Why would I watch other people have sex when I could have sex myself? That made no sense.

But anyway, here’s the point and it’s a good one. I was 17 when I did that. It was an experiment and anything could have happened. I could have gotten addicted to porn. I might have learned I was a lesbian. I could have turned into a porn star, starting having sex with animals, etc. etc. etc.

Instead I found out via this experiment that while porn is uninteresting to me, taboo is. I also learned that I preferred to focus on an actual flesh man and would be having sex with anyone, anywhere and any time I wanted… picket lines or otherwise, and I remain this way today.

And this is the purpose of Uranus transits. You are supposed to try everything so you can find out what you like. So please. By all means get out there. The only thing that’s going to happen is you’ll find out who you are and this is the best thing in the world. So I say, go out and play! No sense wasting another day.

Dear Friend,

I think you should try to save the friendship and the best way to do that is to do absolutely nothing. You have a 12 year history here. You are a moral person and a supportive friend and I don’t think there is anyway in the world she is going abandon you in favor him over time. Here is the likely reality of this situation…

Your friend is embarrassed. She’s ashamed. She’s knows she’s been taken by this man, but she’s attached. She wants it to come out okay. She wants to salvage this somehow and blah, blah, blah. Basically she is tumbling. And you are there… or you were there, to help her try to ground. But she can’t do it yet. She just can’t or I am sure she would.

So she’s going to go a little further down this road. But I doubt she goes too far. She likes quality people! We know this, because she’s had you in her life for 12 years! So is she going to forget all that? I don’t think so. I think she is in pain and in chaos. And right now, you can do nothing but make it worse.

Because she already knows what you think. She knows what she thinks too. She just can’t act right now. And having you as a moral compass breathing down her neck (this is probably how it would feel to her) is not helpful. Either is apologizing. Apologizing for what? You did nothing wrong!

I say, just get one more message to her: “I’m here and I love you no matter what.” And that’s it. After that, just wait.

And be prepared to wait awhile because she’s a Taurus and none of them move very quickly. But it’s also because she’s a Taurus that I’m confident she’ll be back. Because Taurus knows quality and this is what they want in their life. And you are quality, while her man is not - so end of story.

I just shook my head. I was 17, and busted!

Speaking of food and culture… and " Dr Emoto’s experiments with water ", check this from "The Gospel of Food" by Barry Glassner.

Glassner writes:

“In one of my favorite studies, Swedish and Thai women were fed a Thai dish the Swedes found overly spicy. The Thai women, who like the dish, absorbed more iron from the meal. When the researchers reversed the experiment and served hamburger, potatoes and beans, the Swedes, who like this food, absorbed more iron. Most telling was a third variation of the experiment, in which both the Swedes and the Thais were given food that was high in nutrients but consisted of a sticky, savorless paste. In this case, neither group absorbed much iron.”

Now he’s making a case for the idea you should eat what you want, whatever it is you like, but I couldn’t help but think of Dr Emoto’s water crystals.

Emoto would expose water to good energy and get beautiful crystals to form. When the water was exposed to chaos or insults, the crystals were deformed. And I imagine spicy food is an assault on the senses of someone accustomed to a blander diet and so there is no synergy between the body and the food.

And I think this is another argument for the idea that hanging around people you like, who like you, will promote health, well being… and even attractiveness.

So when I hear Oprah, or whoever telling me to relax by lighting some candles and taking a bath, I just laugh. Like that’s going to help. I like spicy food, man! I like spicy people. Fact is, taking a bath with candles (unless I just had sex) is going to do nothing but agitate me.

And what type things do have affinity with? What things leave you cold?

Dear Self,

Well, I’ll try! Your chart suggests a challenge but it is no way shape or form insurmountable. There are no accidents and one of the reasons your lover is in your life is so you can do exactly what you’re doing. Learning from him.

Now you can’t be him, so just forget about that. But he serves as an example. And be aware that as you watch him living the way he does, thinking and feeling more freely than you are able, you are constantly absorbing his energy and his way and changing whether you realize it or not. Understanding this may be the fastest path to release.

See, you are a flowing river, too. You may be a bit more clunky than he is, but you are still in motion and focusing on this should ease things for you. He is part of nature, but so are you! Watch him… that’s fine. But try to find your own flow, because it’s there. And if you do this, over time you will find yourself smoothing out.
