Astrology, Sensitivity and Enjoying The Things You Enjoy: Venus in Aspect to Neptune?
Astrology in Real Life…
I was surprised so few people surfaced to say they had some ritual around enjoying something they enjoy. And I was thinking this must be a Venus Neptune thing. The sensitivity part of it because I realized I do something similar with music.
So am I weird? No. Because then Debby came to the rescue with this comment>:
“I’m like that with music I like. I get the CD and like that wine taster I have to “sniff” it with my ears, taste it and roll it over my musical “tongue” with all its sensors. I listen to one track over and over again for some time. And then I move on to another. It can take me weeks, even months, and in some cases more, to listen to the entire CD.”
Now I do the same thing. I’ll get some music from somewhere… either I’ll order it or someone will send me something and I just let it sit there. Sometimes weeks pass.
Because I want to hear whatever it is. And if my kids are around, forget it! I can’t hear myself think.
And if I’m going on a short trip in the car I might listen. It depends on if I want a quick taste of something. But if I think my experience will be enhanced if I hear a whole cd (or collection of cds) at once, then I’ll definitely wait, indefinitely! Because I’ve got this thing that is going to stimulate me and I want to squeeze the most pleasure possible from it.
Movies, same thing. Books too!
Haven’t you ever put a really good book down at the last chapter, to “save” it? Or slowed down your reading because the book is so pleasurable?
Come on people. Tell me you can relate to this…

No neptune aspects for me really…(mars sq nep and nep sq pluto) but I am very very sentimental…I keep things that remind me of events/times with people over just pictures…more scrap bookish…and I like to cherish books and will choose to read a few pages or a chapter at a time versus the whole book as it seems more romantic in a way. I like the idea of cherishing something so. I remember when I was living in NYC, I didn’t watch TV…what’s the point if you live there?? But would read the same series of books for a few years as it was just something I loved and didn’t want to end. I have been very sad when a bood ends or a cd that someone made for me ends…but it also makes me grin ear to ear.
I wonder if Elsa is savoring the moment to open the box or savoring tormenting the SP guy by not opening it more so. LOL
I buy DVD’s I don’t watch for ages, but I have a limited attention span for movies to begin with. I am always eager to get to the next book so I don’t tend to slow down with them.
I think that the lack of response is that .. well, I’d need to write a whole book on this subject if I were to begin. Yes, there are rituals. But those rituals have recently changed. Meditation has turned me into a sensory person for everything - good or bad. The rituals are falling away, somewhat.
Probably my favorite is the clean house/new book ritual. After a particularily difficult time in life or at work I clean my house, wash my sheets and take a LONG bath. Then I go to bed 2 hours early with my new book. A very relaxing thing, especially for a book I’ve been waiting for that isn’t work related - something fictional…
This means that the next morning I don’t have any obligations as the house is clean and I can spend the WHOLE day reading it
This usually takes me a whole weekend to do as a reward for something.
Lots more where that came from. It is my mother trying to teach me to “care” for myself with cheap pleasures as a reward. It got me through college.
It also means I have rituals around bathing, cleaning, food, new items purchased, new apartment, the solstices.. etc. etc. It means I work on a reward system that is cheap.. and very aware of my body…
I have no patience to do that at all. I read whole books in one sitting, listen to whole CD’s at once. Try a little bit of everything on my plate when at a big meal, etc. I do re-read books five and six times and more!
I. can. not. wait. People who do tend to drive me crazy. CRAZY!! I understand it, but don’t really ‘get’ it. Maybe I should try it sometime. I have saturn square neptune, neptune conjunct merc, mars, mc in the 9th. No neptune-venus.
i am so bad, i hurry through stuff to get to the next thing. i love new experience. but, if i do like something, i come back to it again and again. i am spastic yet loyal. go figure.
I’m with saggal. I have no patience to do the things you are talking about. I’m as Gemini as Gemini can be. I try to see how many things I can do at once. I would never go slower to make anything last longer or do something the same way every time. My former boss ALWAYS stirred his coffee the same number of times at the same speed in the same direction. I just wanted kill him! ![]()
I’m with you on the books, I live books intensively if they are good, and i feel sad when they end. I love books with all my heart. hehe.
About cd’s, I hate hearing whole cd’s, i need to vary. When I really like a song I play it non stop for hours. This happens very rarely with movies. My only routine is to read/listen/see all by myself.
I love how you say, Elsa: “Haven’t you…” because frankly, I haven’t! But on your expression of the obvious joy of it, I will try that in the New Year at least once
I do that with books, slow down, so sometimes I drift off and imagine the story in my head when that happens. Then I find myself day dreaming, and I go back to reading it again. Usually if I reeeally like a cd or something I’d just play it over and over again.
I have neptune conjunct venus, saturn, and mars in the 12th house. Also uranus in the 11th house, and sextile Pluto which conjuncts my moon.

Okay, you got me on the book thing. I have cried at the end of books, not because the ending was sad, but that the experience was about to be over and I wasn’t ready to leave those friends and that world. So I would slow way down and savor those last few chapters. And I also have to have the book in my hands. Mind candy I can do audio, but for something that is fulfilling, I need to hold it, feel it’s energy, touch the pages. I think that’s why I love hardbacks, there’s so much more to them. Don’t buy them very often, but when I do I leave them unread for a bit, like you do your music. And an afternoon spent in a bookstore with unlimited time to browse and scan and chose the perfect book is just a little bit of heaven to me.
Yeah, you got me on the book thing.
