Mercury in Aries vs Mercury in Libra: The Box - Part Six
I got a new box from my ex, the Special Forces guy and have it cooling off as I speak. It was meant for Christmas but arrived late due the blizzard here which is no big deal since I haven’t opened it anyway and have no idea when I might. He’s the Aries in this, so always rushing me. We are both control freaks and the opposition between our Mercury’s is ever present:
“Did you open that yet?” he asked.
“No. No I haven’t and have no idea when I might. I haven’t finished your last box yet.”
“You make too big a deal. It’s just a Christmas present. You’re going to be disappointed.”
“I don’t see how. I am already satisfied, just having it here. Just looking at it with it’s red tape. You put red tape on it and I don’t even have to open it for it to be plenty whatever it is. I’ll see what it is soon enough. Like in a month, or something.”
“A month!” He laughed.
“Maybe. I have no idea what I’m going to do, but as you know it’s my box, the box and whatever is in it so just don’t worry about it. There is really no reason to open it because I am already completely happy. My mood could not be improved so I may as well wait for some other time.”
“You’re an odd one, P.”
“Well I guess I’ve heard that before but in whatever case, no. I have not opened the box yet and have no intention of opening any time soon that I am aware of. I am just too happy having it around the way it is.”
Now what I really think is that the box is full of energy. It most certainly is. Someone took the time to pack it for me, so I would not want to go ripping into to it like some kind of de-sensitized freak. This would be akin to a wine lover opening a bottle 30 year old bottle of wine and taking a mindless swig from the bottle. It’s not going to happen.
I am going to open that box when I have the time and space to give it my full attention so I can fully appreciate the gift and the energy of the giver. I am going to open the box and release it’s contents like a living thing and meantime it gets to be in the room with me, and just knowing it’s there feeds, supports me and makes me feel good.
Do you have rituals like this? Things you appreciate and take the time to savor?

I’m like that with music I like. I get the CD and like that wine taster I have to “sniff” it with my ears, taste it and roll it over my musical “tongue” with all its sensors. I listen to one track over and over again for some time. And then I move on to another. It can take me weeks, even months, and in some cases more, to listen to the entire CD. But it’s not a ritual, it’s just the way I take it in. I can also get quite obsessive in other ways about the music I like.
That is exactly what I do with presents from friends. They are always giving me movies to watch, and it takes months and months for me to watch them. They harass me about it, but I know that I’ll enjoy the movie at the right time, and not a moment before, otherwise I won’t enjoy it as much as it deserves. I do the same thing with the books I buy, also. I always thought I was the only person in the world who does this, so it’s nice to know I’m not.
I need to open gifts right away. I also can’t keep presents I buy for someone until the proper holiday - I need to give them immediately. I can’t “shop ahead”. I prefer spontaneous giving and would feel like someone didn’t appreciate the gift if they wouldn’t open it - sorry - that’s how I am.
