Mercury in Aries vs Mercury in Libra: The Box - Part One

Astrology in Real Life…

aries libra opposition My ex, the Special Forces guy sent me a box. He has debated sending me the stuff in the box for several years now so the thing is loaded.

We’re on the phone here and you can see having Mercury in signs that oppose, there is constant tension. And with both of us having Mercury in Cardinal and Masculine signs, we are overt about trying to control the other. It’s his Mercury in Aries, trying to rush me. Mercury rules your thinking, your timing and your nerves! It also rules the mail!

“Did that box get there yet? He asked.

“No! How am I going to get that box? You just mailed it. The soonest it will get here is today and probably not until tomorrow.”

“Okay. I just want to know if it got there. I want to know what you think of that stuff.”

“I know you do. You think I don’t know that? But you’re just going to have to wait! Because even when it gets here, I am not sure I am going to open it. I may not open if for awhile so just know that, okay? Just because it gets here does not mean I opened it.”

He laughed.

“I probably… I may have to leave that thing on the floor for awhile. It will probably take me a day at least so don’t be surprised if it’s here and I know nothing about it. Because I doubt I’ll open it right away. Actually that would be very unlikely. I will have to have it around awhile in the house. I’m going to put it on the floor and let some energy leak off. You know. Put it in the middle of the floor and walk around it for a while. Circle around it and spy it out of the corner of my eye. The whole thing makes me nervous.”

“What? Just open the thing! Open it!”

“What? Don’t order me! Don’t tell me what to do! Why are you ordering me? What makes you think you can? I know what you want. You want me to open it and I will as soon as I can. You gave it to me, so it’s my box, isn’t it? You want me to have it?”

“Yes.”

“Well that’s what I thought! So it’s mine. The box is mine to do with, whatever I want. So just let me do that. Leave me alone about it! Quit ordering me, because it’s my box so therefore, it is my business!”

“Okay, okay. Well just let me know when it gets there,” he said.

“Okay.”

“Okay.”

“Okay.”

He didn’t say anything.

“Is that all, then?”

“Yep.”

“Yep? Okay, bye.”

“Bye,” he said with his twang. “Bye, Elsa P.”

    Um, yes, my partner, unfortunately!
Not sure what the aspects are in relation in Mercury, but my Mercury is in Taurus and his is in Sagittarius. I’ve checked our composite chart on astrodesient and we have a 12th house Mercury in Pisces squared Neptune and trined Saturn. So we provoke some very deep-rooted and long forgotten things in each other at times, which can be very insightful and meaningful, or extremely irritating and frustrating, depending on what is dug up!

Hm. Interesting. Flipping through family charts I just noticed my youngest brother and sister have Mercury in Leo and Mercury in Scorpio (respetively) at 22 degrees, retrograde. Sparring? Verbal Warfare! It’s amazing. My brother also has Mars in Leo conjunct his Mercury and he can be quite aggressive in his arguments. Having Mercury in Aries (widely trine his Mercury in Leo) I actually enjoy his verbal warfare. Most of us have Fire sign Mercury placements - debate is a family thing :D No wonder my sister gets so frustrated. Never thought about this before.

Otherwise, most close friends and several lovers have had Fire sign Mercuries as well, so there isn’t much sparring, just debating.

my best friend has scorpio mercury and i taurus and they’re in exact opposition.
i think it’s one of the reasons we’re so good for each other- we kinda’ get bored and feeling like we’re missing half of our brain without each other.
…all our best ideas come out of figuring out how we’re saying the exact same things in totally different ways and the like. ;)

we’ve also matured a bit so there’s less sparring and more tennis nowadays.
