That’s useful. Are you going to to one for Aries?

Just in time…I have a great aunt and a grandma-in-law whose birthdays are 1 day apart (29th and 30th respectively) and I need to get them something! Ironically they both HATE purple. I don’t know if this has anything to do with being a cancer ;p They also both wanted to be English teachers. Odd. I know one had Gemini moon, not sure about the other. I suppose that could lend itself to writing/reading pursuits. Come to think of it my 1st cousin’s b-day is also coming up.

The kinds of gifts I’ve gotten for both Cancerian ladies are definitely home-related, or food related, or something. Either that or some fine adornment (jewelry) seems to be fairly well received. I got the grandma-in-law a nice chenille throw, some chocolate liquor (she loves chocolate) and some apertiff glasses and she loved that. I think anything nice for the home or to use in the home would be welcome by a Cancerian (depending slightly on their tastes, of course)

    Cheerio…

Something thoughtful and personal….like a set of pots-de-creme china from an antique store!

Antique jewelry is always an idea and Cookbooks which have won awards are a winner here! Any kitchen gadget which makes cooking more fun is also wonderful. Perhaps a new and beautiful serving platter (hopefully a neutral color which will match most dishes). A new pair of oven mitts…the good kind!!

Special food items…such as spices from Penzey’s catalogue are nice to have. They import spices from all over the world!! Nice English or Indian teas with a Tea Bee (for loose leaves) are always homey and personal!!

Special room fragrance or a fancy aromatic candle to make their home smell wonderful are always great choices!!

Anything HOMEMADE!!! Careful, we just might shed a tear of joy over your thoughfulness!!

    Cancer Moon (Mercury and Jupiter)

I love that pin! I suppose that figures, what with having Cancer rising and all :)

As Kathy mentioned, candles - food scented of course - I love Illuminations candles, but Yankee Candle has good products too.

Lace or damask table linens; tea cozies; picture frames with lots of slots to put in lots of pictures of family and friends; patriotic gifts; homemade food gifts like fudge or cookies or jam.

I like those, but my husband and son are both Cancers..what about for the men in my life. Usually for my husband it’s grilling things…cooking in his own backyard, but I’ve been thinking I need something different this year. Perhaps compiling video of the kids onto a DVD?

I don’t agree with a lot of the choices these ladies put up or the bubble bath-type suggestions of the blogger. I say: pile it on, I am sure that Cancers like the warmth of many gifts. Old stuff, things made of velvety fabric, old pictures: I used to collect upholstery swatches and sew them on my pants! I say that Cancers dig antiques like pillows or candelabras (although a candelabra may be too big or less than intimate). I would give a Cancer several things like a delicate old teacup and saucer, just one, a ring (gold and dark amethyst is good), and some old postcards. Another good combination is gold and garnets for warmth. Also, Cancers like many old and dusty books, particularly green and red, one of my personal favorites is the very green Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire set. Or also books with old notes left in them like the Freemason Yearbook notice I found. Silver and baby blue, I think, are bad color choices in a gift for a Cancer. Picture frames or candles, that Pottery Barn stuff, the kind of things that stores market that have too-clean edges like stationery sets or (corny) candles are too bare and “cold” to give to a Cancer. Once I received these very austere modern-looking placemats from a Capricorn woman, I looked into the Pottery Barn and they fit very well with the generally cold, “sophisticated” atmosphere. Anthropologie is a good source for bedclothes and lanterns. Usually if you give a Cancer jewelry, they will look it over and treat it more as a memory than anything else.

By the way, in the movie Amelie, there is a bit about a man named Dominique Bretodeau that Amelie returns a tin full of Tour de France figurines, photos, and things. I have a similar tea tin and many others full of pictures, rocks, a small champagne bottle, a 200g and 2g weight, Peter Rabbit figurines, a harmonica… and such things. I bet a Cancer would like something like that or some of the other things in that movie (like an album full of collected photobooth pictures or a pig lamp). I would give them something like that.
