More Comments on the Comments

Outtakes and Various Other Sundries…

refereeRegarding the passionate debate in the comments here, there are some comments being held in moderation until I speak with my editor, HQ. He emailed late last night to say he felt the conversation was devolving and “a few people just going at it and not really focusing on substantive discussion…” He wondered if we should step in.

To be very honest, it had not occurred to me to interfere. In fact, I told someone privately I felt my responsibility and obligation was to the people who send the questions and outside of that, this was the internet. Further, at least people are talking about art!

But after HQ’s mail, I am not so sure about this. Maybe there needs to be some lines, in which case I apologize. I would say I took my eye off the ball, but in truth, I didn’t even know there was a ball. But I definitely respect HQ’s whistle when he blows it, so we’re going to have to discuss this and come up with some kind of policy.

In the meantime, the new comments are on ice. We will resolve this as quickly as possible and however it ends up, I do appreciate the participation on this site. I think it adds tremendous value and interest and further, I wouldn’t be here if you guys weren’t. Thank you.

I would step in…because people are getting into some sort of personal disagreement. If they want to do that through email that’s fine, but I personally am not in the least interested in their opinion of one another, although the substantive discussion (which is there…somewhere) is interesting.

Awwww, please don’t stop the ranting! It’s funny! And how often do you get to witness a high-brow slanging match of that calibre? We see small minds go at it all the time in pop-culture, which only makes us dumber. Why not let a couple of frontal lobe heavy-weights fight it out for iron mind in the battle of language? Besides, that post was really the only one with the fighting and how many others are there? How many weeks have comments been made? I think it’s just THAT post at this particular time. However, if youse think it’s a problem, you could set up a separate forum so that ppl can wrestle as much as they like and not take up any of your important space with inanities.

I agree! It was fun and despite the tone of our comments.. a lot of interesting subjects were touched. I would love to discuss them further, but, in all fairness to Elsa, I really do feel that this is not the place.
Thanks for being patient with us Elsa.

    Hi Elsa,
It would be ideal for you to forward my comments to Tosh with my private email address.

We have different definitions of fun, but I have never met an architect/astrologer. He’s certainly short on the astrological content, but already more interesting than a lot of people online.

    Hi CC,
I’m a she not a he…and yes, I’m even shorter than you think on the astrological stuff. I’m new to it, still an amateur, but learning fast I hope.

This seems like a reasonable way to approach it Elsa. Whatever you and HQ decide, I know it will be well thought out and ultimately benefit the site.

    Thank you for being here.
